In the early 1800s in Randleman, North Carolina, young orphan girl Naomi met and fell in love with a man named John Lewis. When John’s family found out that he was seeing Naomi, they told him to stop and marry a girl that had a better standing in the community. He Became engaged with another woman but continue to see Naomi. They quickly found out that Naomi was pregnant which scared John. He left the town in fled to another state. People started to realize that Naomi was missing. If you days later they found her dead in Deep River. They figured out that John had killed her and the child to start a new family elsewhere so he wouldn’t have to marry Naomi. He was found and brought back to NC where he was convicted and put in prison.
